I’m sorry, this is a long question.
- Wonton's an ace hamster, and doesn't bite and is the sweetest wee thing, but what do you think I should do? He’s an albino Syrian, short hair.
[[ I say “annoying ‘Petting Zone’” so frequently because I’m annoyed at the ways in which CT promote themselves, and how it’s trying to make itself seem like an ace cage – when it certainly isn’t.]]
- I had pet hamsters (Syrian, but also once we had two dwarf hamsters, but they fought so we had to separate them) with my sister from when I was 4 (my sister 6, and when we were both little, help from out parents and such) - until I was maybe 12 or so?
- I have a Critter Trail One, with some fun tubing to a small extension [I can’t find an actual image of it, but it’s an in between of http://www.ukpetsupplies.com/Details.aspx?ProdId=5604&CatId=175&ParentId=981 but with the metal bars of CT One, but without a “petting zone”, as this company ADORES to say, far too often..
The reason why I have these, is because after I’d had a little “Oh, hamster cages are so pricey?!” on my facebook, and a friend in my form class offered me her old cage, with the hamster toys which she still had from her last hamster (who died a couple of years ago), so long as I gave her some money towards it, since she did had to pay for it herself, although with great discount at the time.I was more than happy with getting a cheap cage without having to pay the (roughly) £40 - £50's worth of cadging - if it were brand new and fully priced - and Critter Trails are SO overpriced.
We used to have a Rotastak cage, http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/pet-supplies/pet-cages/hamster-cages/rotastak-hamster-cage-homes/hamster-cage-rotastak-tunnel-of-fun.html and http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/pet-supplies/pet-cages/hamster-cages/rotastak-hamster-cage-homes/hamster-cage-rotastak-starter-deluxe.html above it, as well as with plenty of the bendy, shiney plastic tubing (although I remember these tubes utterly collapsing while a hamster was inside it, she was fine but confused, the tubing was either rearranged & reinforced or we decided to stick to the regular tubing).
Also, I recall that the reassemble of the cage was hell with little clips and things, aswell as a few of the hamsters over the years escaping through the annoying little yellow circular “turn-open-things” on the “apartment” ceiling part.
Although CT has plenty of cons to it, especially the little floor space and burrowing space available. I was considering getting http://www.ukpetsupplies.com/Details.aspx?ProdId=5604&CatId=175&ParentId=981 as an extension between CT One and the mini bit, and buy one of these http://www.ukpetsupplies.com/Details.aspx?ProdId=439&CatId=175&ParentId=981# as there’s far too little space in CT One or mini thing. But I can tell that this wheel is way too small for a Syrian! At least Wonton has a place as a food storage (he uses his little plastic iglu for most of his food, rather than a bed, and uses the silly “Petting Zone” as a bed.
----Anyway, I know do how to look after hamsters, and I'm 17 now and it's been really fun with Wonton so far, but should I purchase extra compartments to my wee Wonton's cage?
-----Or should I save up the money for a new cage entirely? It seems a waste to not use the CT cageing, though, but if I decide to get a hamster after Wonton – far from now *touch wood* – I’ll get a dwarf, I’m sure, for CT caging.
Any help on this would be fantastic. Wonton currently is in my room, on my large desk (I don’t use sprays in my room btw) and I’ve checked to see if it’d have the space for another expansion.
